A habit is a learned behaviour that you do not feel comfortable without doing.  You do not want to do it but for some reason cannot stop doing it.  Very often you perform these habits without even knowing you are doing them.  Unwanted habits are often a way of managing, comforting or relieving stress, anxiety or boredom.  If you want to stop a habit and make that change then it is possible to achieve that, all you need is a desire to change.


Some habits behaviours become addictions and need a bit more effort to resolve.  If you think you have an addiction it is always best to check with your doctor before embarking on self-treatment, especially for something like alcohol addiction as it can be dangerous to suddenly stop drinking if you are drink dependent.  Your physician will be able to advise you best.
